The line, marketed by Chelsea, Mass.-based State Garden Inc., hit store shelves March 1 and includes three new varieties.
Spring mix with balsamic dressing, romaine with garlic croutons and Caesar dressing and baby spinach salad with ranch come with a plastic fork and are packed in a recyclable bowl. Each carries a manufacturer’s suggested price of $2.99.
Rachel Greenstein, a spokeswoman for State Garden Inc., said salads range from 3 ounces to 5.5 ounces.
The line bears a new trademarked tagline “‘Any fresher and we’d still be growing’ — Locally Packaged. Family Approved.”
The salads are available at retailers across the Northeastern U.S.
State Garden also is offering the salads under its Northeast brand.
Olivia’s Organics and Northeast support charitable organizations.
A portion of the profits from Northeast brand salad sales go toward local food banks, according to a news release, and a portion of the profits from Olivia’s Organics goes to the Olivia’s Organics Charitable Foundation, which benefits children’s charities in the markets where products are sold.
